A cholita caporal in the street
In this image, we see a cholita woman walking alone on one of the central streets of Oruro, Bolivia. She is dressed in her traditional Oruro Carnival attire, all dolled up, with makeup and ready to dance in the grand entrance parade.
With a determined gaze and a firm step, she heads towards her destiny; she doesn't yet know what awaits her, but she intends to captivate the audience on stage with her dancing and beauty.
Waiting for the old and traditional square
As with any major event, sometimes you have to wait your turn. The woman is sitting on a bench in one of the plazas, looking both anxious and thoughtful because this year she wants to show off her best outfit, to demonstrate that she has improved her dancing. Last year was her first time, but as happens to everyone, she had some difficulties, she didn't quite adapt, but she enjoyed the experience and this time she is determined to do much better.
Getting into the Taxi
The hour passed quickly; the moment for her participation in the Oruro parade was approaching. Traffic in the city during Carnival is a bit complicated, especially due to the number of people who come to see the folkloric parade. The cholita caporal was eager but had difficulty getting around, so she managed to find a taxi to pick her up. She got in and asked which streets she should enter to participate with her group. She had plenty of time, but she wanted to spend it walking around other places.
Seconds before the performance
With only a few seconds to go, the dancer arrived at her destination and prepared to show off her best outfit. She was in a borrowed space just two steps from the entrance.
She looked a little nervous, as evidenced by the slight perspiration on her neck. She adjusted her high heels and glanced at another design; she was very meticulous and detail-oriented about her wardrobe.
Arriving at the Gathering
After hours of preparation and waiting, the cholita caporal arrives at the gathering point for the dancers. A large number of people, like her, are ready to showcase their dance. She arrives a little nervous, needing to gain confidence and act with her characteristic self-assurance because it's time to start dancing and give it her all, to display everything she has prepared for months.
